About Jerry

Jerry Roberson was raised on a farm on the Cumberland Plateau in Middle Tennessee; and he really does know first hand what real hard farm life is all about. He tells his stories in illustrations as well as with words.  He writes, as his characters speak, not in strictly correct classroom English.  He was a military officer by profession; but he has always been a romantic at heart, all of his life.  He writes what he feels; not what he thinks others expect him to say.

Lieutenant Colonel Gerald A. Roberson, US Army Retired, spent the first five years of his twenty-five year active duty military career as an enlisted man and, as such, spent two full-year “in-country” tours of duty in the Vietnam War.  So, he knows a little about how a Civil War soldier might feel about things.

He graduated from three different colleges and universities ultimately obtaining an MBA from Niagara University.  He also taught at the college level for three institutions, including serving in the Department Chair as a professor of Military Science at the University of Florida.  None of this education and experience was able to remove the farm from the boy.

Jerry married an Ohio woman who was also an Army officer and they raised two children and have two grandchildren.  They have been married for thirty-seven years and he still says she is the love of his life.  So it also seems he just might know a little about love, life, and family values.

All of these experiences helped prepare and motivate him to write this book about a love story that spans generations.
